Why do I have to create an account to make an order?

All major online stores require that you create an account: Amazon, Walmart, Temu, ebay, so creating one on Jude's Store shouldn't be a problem.  It's very easy to create, and it makes it easier for everyone to track their orders.  It's also the only way to view your digital downloads (ebooks).  OpenCart is what powers the store, and its code is a bit fickle. After trouble shooting several different scenarios, forcing visitors to create an account avoided the following issues:

• Checking out and buying an ebook but then not being able to access it
• If there is a problem with the order, customer can't reference it for refund/return/exchange
• No tracking can be provided
• Placing an order but forgetting to include an address, so it can't be shipped

It's very easy to create an account, and it's not verified. All you need to provide is your name and email address. So you can put anything in those spaces and still be able to signup and make an order.  The only time the info needs to be accurate is if you're ordering something that needs to be shipped. Then I would need your actual address, which only needs to be added before you can checkout.  The account creation is to protect the order, so you are able to access it after the purchase has been completed.

There is no reason to use fake information though.  Nothing you share will be sold or exploited.  If you choose to subscribe, you might get emailed with specials or coupon codes, but that's it, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
