Oil spill

As most will recall, oil started spilling into the Gulf of Mexico in April of 2010. A lot of people are saying it's BP's fault as they were the ones drilling, but I still don't understand how it was. Could someone clarify?

I haven't really been following this crisis, but I know it's a bad one. I personally think it was sabotage, which wouldn't be BP's fault, but someone has to be blamed.
