Calling it quits

Well, Jude Liebermann has had a pretty good run. I started this site in 2000, though I published my first book in 1997. Had high hopes, tried a bunch of different things, had big dreams, but then real life happened. That old saying, “life is what happens when you’re making other plans” is spot on. But it’s exhausting trying to keep up with my busy life and trying to figure out what the reading public wants to buy. My most popular book, Kings of Klenar, recently got a scathing 1 star review by a woman who hated it so much that she had to give a blow by blow description of everything that happens in the story. I can’t imagine having that much free time to waste on doing such a mean and vindictive thing. I hated 50 Shades of Grey, but you won’t find a 1 star review from me breaking it down point by point. It didn’t deserve such dedication. I guess this gal thought my book did? I find it strange, but do I really care? No! I made more money off that book than I have on all of my other books combined since 1997. In case she or anyone else wonders, I made KOK shocking for a reason. Because that seems to sell. None of my sensual romances did well. Neither did my hot short stories. I pushed the boundaries on everything in that book. I would never have included a F/F scene in any of my sensual stories, since I don’t like reading about that kind of stuff. I wanted to see what would happen if I went a little crazy in the story, and it broke records. Of course not as many as I would have hoped for, but it did better than I thought it would. I’m proud of that book, and believe me, the rough draft went farther than the final version. I actually toned down the rape scenes, thinking that I might have gone too far. I get caught up in the scenes I’m writing, and they practically write themselves. It’s only after I step away for a few days and read it again that I realize some things might have gone too far.

But that review showed me that no matter how many people will pay for reads, there will always be someone who will hide behind online anonymity to tear down someone else’s creation. It’s not worth it. So I won’t be writing anything new as Jude. The only thing I might be releasing is the novel version of A Modern Myth: The Next Generation. Just depends on if I can get around to finishing the script conversion from Episode Interactive, which isn’t an easy thing. I do have another penname that I will use if I get a wild hair and create something new, but Jude Liebermann is being retired. I’m going to tone down my website to a ghost of what it was. All my books and stories will continue to be offered on all the sites they currently are available on, but the store on Jude’s Place will be shut down as well as all the other sites I had active. I’ve made more money on my other penname in the last two years, so any of my available writing time will be dedicated to her. She’s more fun anyway.

Thank you to all visitors and especially those who have bought one (or more) of my books.

ETA: It took a year, but A Modern Myth: The Next Generation is now available on Amazon as both ebook and paperback:

I’m proud that the final installment of my A Modern Myth saga is my final book. Hope you all agree it’s a fitting end to Jude Liebermann’s writing career.

Forum has been shut down

As the title says, the forum on my site has been shut down. I recently moved hosts and it wasn’t worth the hassle of moving that huge forum with it. I will find a way to offer my free reads elsewhere but that will take some time. So bear with me.

A Modern Myth trilogy

Well, I’ve thought it over and have decided that since one book trilogies have become so popular, I will release my A Modern Myth trilogy as one book. I’m still considering how to price it. Will probably have a special introductory rate to get people excited about it and then raise it. This also means I might edit the series and make it erotic. After all, my erotica is the only thing selling right now, so I have decided I won’t release anything else that isn’t hard core. Which means I will be making the Next Generation I created on Episode as erotic too. Sorry to those of you who read it in its PG version on that platform, but then again, I doubt any of you would want to spend money on the ebook anyway. Once I get through that, which is taking longer than I had hoped, I might then release the final two books (Drew’s Awakening and the Next Generation) as a combo. Just depends on how much time I can dedicate to it.

So stay tuned.

A Modern Myth saga continues

Hey! Two updates. First, the sensual version of Drew’s Awakening is now available. You can get it here: http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Myth-Awakening-Sensual-Version-ebook/dp/B00OQI6VXW/ This version has had the heat removed for those who don’t like erotica.

Secondly, I’m almost finished with the Episode Interactive version of The Next Generation. When that is done, I will convert it to a novel and publish it on Amazon as well. It might take awhile, since I’ve never tried going from a script to a novel before. 🙂 But I do look forward to being able to put all the detail that is impossible on the limited Episode platform. Since it’s pretty much a PG story, I might heat it up to an R but it won’t be erotica, just in case those who enjoyed it on Episode want it in book form as well.

I’ll update when it is available.

Episode Interactive new gateway for A Modern Myth!

Hey everybody! I’m pleased to announce that I have started a continuing story on my A Modern Myth saga. This one is about Nada’s youngest set of twins, Dana and Devon, who were briefly mentioned in Drew’s Awakening. They are about to turn 18, and everyone is worried they might inherit the family curse. Will they?

This story is being created on the Episode Interactive platform. So be sure to check out the top of the main page of my site for links.

I’m also in the process of editing Drew’s Awakening for those who don’t like to read erotica but want to read Drew’s story. The new version will be sensual, with a lot less heat. 🙂

Those who don’t like my Klenar books, REALLY don’t like them!

I don’t usually visit Goodreads.com. My books are on there, and people do tend to rate them every once in awhile. I got a notification that someone was following my reviews, so I visited. To my surprise, someone rated Kings of Klenar 1 star. Even the people on Amazon who have returned the books haven’t rated it lower than 2 stars, so I checked Sierra Sky. The same person, gave it 1 star as well.

This made me go “hmm….”

Did she really buy one, didn’t like it, then bought the second one hoping for better? OR did she actually buy both of my books and then didn’t like them both, or more likely, buy one and didn’t like it. Then just assumed that the other one must be trash as well, and gave that 1 star? For those of you who don’t have common sense, that’s a no no. You cannot assume that just because you didn’t like a book, that all other books in that series must be bad too. On the other hand if you were warned that a book had certain topics in it that might be taboo, and you bought it and was shocked by those topics, is that really the author’s fault?

I know that people either love these books or hate them enough to get a refund, but hardly any of those actually post a review or a rating. So what made Lis Pearson go to Goodreads and slam both of my books without even giving a reason? Inquiring minds want to know.

Since the rating is posted publicly, it isn’t an invasion of privacy to list Lis’ name, and here is the message I just sent her.

subject: Really?
message: Did you seriously read both my Klenar books, after obviously not liking one of them? Really?
Or did you just want to drag down my overall rating because you didn’t like one, by giving both 1 star? If so, shame on you.

OR did you actually buy two books in a series without reading one of them first? If so, WOW!

Whichever is the right answer, I guess I’m sorry you didn’t like them (or whichever you actually read).

So Lis, if you’re visiting, I really hope you did buy both books, though it would surprise me if you really did.
I’ll let you know if she responds.

Jixit is finally finished and ready for its release date!

I just uploaded the updated version of Jixit to Smashwords, so it can make its way to the other online stores. For some reason Kobobooks hasn’t updated with any of my recent books, so it seems that Jixit won’t be for sale there.

Available NOW at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Itunes, as well as on Smashwords.com and other select online retailers, including but not limited to Oyster and Scribd.

Here again is the blurb for Jixit:

Colin Jix is a loner. He’s had to be, due to a unique ability that is also a curse. So he lives in a remote mountain town where he limits his contact with other people. He’s settled into his solitary life and resigned himself to be alone. That is until Dot Tate shows up with a broken down car and needs his help. Neither can fight their immediate attraction, even though he tries to remain distant. But then as he uncovers a tragic secret and must step outside his comfort zone to make things right, he discovers his curse is actually a gift.

When real life intrudes

I had a great inspiration for Jixit and wrote on it everyday for about a week. Then I kept getting distracted. I’m glad I don’t write to pay the bills, since I’m too easily drawn away from my goal of writing. But then I never did it to make money. I started writing because I had a story inside me that wanted to get out. Then more stories came. I don’t think I’d ever do well with a deadline. Creative juices just don’t work like that with me. Once Jixit is done I might even stop writing for awhile. At least until my real life settles down a bit.
That is unless I get hit with something so inspiring that I must drop everything to work on it. When that happens, nothing can hold me back. It’s a great feeling though.
Hopefully my next update will provide an estimate of when Jixit will be done. Wish me luck.

First e-books and now e-cigarettes?

I was sitting at a local bar with my husband, when I looked a few stools over and saw a man smoking what looked like a bong. I then realized it was an e-cigarette. As I stared at it, the thought went through my mind, what if he is doing drugs instead of whatever is supposed to be in that thing? I don’t know anything about these new e-cigarettes, other than they smell funny and they allow people to smoke in places where regular cigarettes are banned. The bar does have a smoking section outside, but I guess there will always be those people who insist on smoking inside, so they will do whatever it takes. Hey, as long as I don’t have to breathe something that is unhealthy, I don’t mind. But how do we know what they’re exhaling isn’t bad for us? How do we know what they put in that bong? I read recently that someone is even trying to make the e-cigarette illegal. I didn’t understand why this would be necessary until I saw that bong in the bar and thought what others have probably thought. What if there is an illegal substance in that thing? Who would know? In a society where we are trying to keep kids off drugs, something new is introduced and selling like hot cakes that will give them the idea of how to do drugs right out in the open. How can that be OK?

Here is just one example of what an e-cigarette bong looks like: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1536011742/Newest_top_quality_bowling_shape_electronic.html

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to see someone smoking one of these things anywhere near me.
